The Beautiful People – LA
Raw Food Scenes
I have sat in the dirt in Central Park eating watermelon with my hands. I have eaten almost a hundred times at the infamous Pure Food & Wine. I have danced in a drum circle until late in the night with a bag full of cucumbers. I have laughed, loved, and affirmed at Café Gratitude in San Fran and Berkeley. I have foraged, sparkled, and delved into the depths of cacao in London.
But what about the LA area?
What’s the scene like there?
They have raw food restaurants by the names of:
Au Lac
118 Degrees
Juliano’s
RAWvolution
Leaf Cuisine
First Impression
I get along with everyone. I have friends that are millionaires and friends that haven’t showered in a week, and are Bob Marley t-shirt wearing fun loving hippies (I like those guys). Some have been raw foodists for over 15 years, some chocolatiers, some authors, and some just love filet mignon. Either way, it’s all good. Who am I to judge or say what’s right or wrong, as if such a thing exists.
These were some of the thoughts that were in my head as I drove down Main St in Santa Monica. I saw a guy in a business suit talking to a guy walking shirtless with dreadlocks down to his waist. I saw beautiful woman with perfect makeup and what looked like $1,000 outfits, and others just jogging around in sweat shorts and a tank top. But nothing stood out to me more than the smiles.

Sun Side Up
I think there really is just something about the sun that brings the best out in people. When Brother Sun starts shining so bright like that, you can’t help but want to get out, get undressed (bathing suits), and get your Vitamin D. Whether they were cruising in their convertibles, body surfing at the beach, or walking down the Santa Monica Blvd, they generally looked happy.
Some of you might say that you live in LA and hate it. You may talk about murders, suicides, or pollution… but I just try not to see those things. Do I look at the world through rose-colored glasses? Maybe. But why would I want to look at it through any other way...
How do you see the world?
Soaking up the Sun,
Philip

I LOVE LA.
Thankfully beautiful people are Everywhere - not just to be enjoyed during delicious sun-kissed mouth-watering visits to Los Angelitos where the Happyness is evident.
For those of us are waiting for the breaks in clouds - bring on those rose-colored glasses :)
I agree there is nothing like sunshine to improve your mood. Livng by the water also helps. Have a great trip Philip.
You should check out Erewhon Market and hit up the Tonic Bar. That place is RAD! I recommend the Reishi Cappuccino. Oh man, good stuff. It seems like you are having an amazing sweep through CA. Is it fig season? You lucky dog!!!! :)
Safe travels.
Love and Happiness,
Jennifer
Grace - you are so right!!!!
Melissa - loving the sun
Jennifer - I wanted to get there but missed it this time around. Next time! : )
Yup- the sun opens the heart, and so do your words :)
Hey my friend, thanks for the Cali love. I am a native born and bred and I have to say.. don't think I could live anywhere else and be as content. I have been to Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, New York, London, New Mexico and Arizona and all over Cali too. Have to say that LA works for me.. only thing I would want is beach property, like 5 acres to plant in Santa Barbara... keep dreaming!
Intentions become reality, keep the love flowing!
