Beautiful San Francisco
Philip McCluskey on
Friday, June 6, 2008 With flight delays, 2 stops at different airports (how did that happen), and renting a car including travel time, it took me 15 hours to get from my house in CT to my friends Shenay and Josh's house in Half Moon Bay, just south of San Francisco. Boy was I tired, and a bit jet lagged too. I am still getting over being 5 hours behind from my London trip last week, now I can add another 3 hours onto that.
But overall, I am so grateful to be here, and feel great.
It seems so long since I have been in Cali... the sight of the ocean again warms my heart. I always appreciate the vibe here as well. The people in San Fran and Berkeley, well, seem so loving and happy. Maybe that's because I have set up permanent residence in Cafe Gratitude, I don't know. But either way... I have been getting smiles everywhere I look.
I was walking into the Cafe the other day when John and a friend approached me and recognized me from my site, and my YouTube videos. We had a great conversation, and he immediately offered to be my tour guide for the following day, as he has lived in Berkeley for a long time and is very familiar with the area.
Synchronicities.
Of course timing was perfect because I didn't know what I was going to do the next day so it was great. In the past I might have worried about not having things planned out ahead of time.
Worry... what a waste of time. Anyway, we checked out some amazing sites and had a great time.
Then later that night I met GI2MR superstar Jenny! More to come about that and Cafe Gratitude in my next post.
John - amazing tour guide and great guy!

Just because it was beautiful....
***Someone mentioned to me, in a very loving way, that they thought I might be documenting too much "fun" stuff on my site, and that I might lose viewers because I wasn't addressing serious things like cancer and diabetes. I did notice that I had a few viewers unsubscribe recently, and thats ok.
If you think that this is what this site it about... I am the first to raise my hand and say "you got the wrong guy."
My three-fold reply
1. My mission and path in this life is not to be the doctor of raw foods, its just not my calling. If you want information about dis-ease and such check out Dr. Brian Clement, Dr. Gabriel Cousens, or David Wolfe. They will give you a much better answer than I ever could.
2. I believe energy flows where our attention goes. I don't want to put all my energy on dis-ease, but rather living life, raw foods, transformation... and watching the other stuff we don't care for fall by the wayside. I put my attention on what I want to manifest in my life, not the negative things I no longer want to hold on to.
3. My tag line for this site has always been "Loving Life and Raw Foods." I document about what life is like on the other side. I'm the guy standing in the water encouraging you to jump in... the water is great!
What are your thoughts and comments?
So on that note... I am going out today with Vinit to ride scooters through San Fran, then off to Cafe Gratitude again to interact with loving smiling people. Tonight will be a durian and chocolate cake party with Shenay and Josh, and then maybe bowling.
If your in the area stop by... I will be the guy with the perma-grin.
Keep Smiling,
manifesting,
nature,
passion,
purpose,
travel

Keep the fun coming! Fun, laughter and hugs are the best medicine after all, combined with raw foods, well not even the sky is the limit!!
Love!

Yay for San Fran and Cafe Gratitude! We just spent 4 days there a couple weeks ago...and we stayed in Half Moon Bay too :) So gorgeous. I loved the views from Pacifica. Can't wait to hear your review of Cafe Gratitude and see some pics...I totally wanted to "camp out" there as well. The energy and positivity is contagious there and the food is more than amazing!
Don't you dare change a thing about your site! I love it and I will keep coming back!! I enjoy the mix of real life and raw food. It makes your site fun and informative. Keep up the great work and have fun in San Fran!! Wish I was there!
this blog seems to be largely about your own experiences. unless you or one of your loved ones had a disease, you writing about it wouldn't seem to fit very well. plus i'd rather see the fruits of your healthy lifestyle than hear about all the negative things it is "battling."
i think being a bicycle planner is starting to get to me! i took one look at that dna sculpture (before reading the caption) and thought "cool bike rack!"
Right On, Bro. You said it perfectly. Aside from NYC, the Bay area and all of northern Cali is my favorite place ever. Enjoy everything life brings you!!
xoxo...Penni
I love that your website is about transformation and living life!
I say keep it coming, my family and I will be in NYC July 28 through August 4 hope I get to meet you and others! Ciao luce e amore, love and light xo
Thank you everyone for your feedback. I am loving raw, and loving keeping things the same for now. :)
Boy does that make me nastalgic. I used to live in Half Moon Bay :)
I think your blog articles are just fine! You don't need to be serious.
Have fun in California!
Kat
Keep the fun, laughter and smiles coming. You are so positive and that resonates with so many people. Have a great time in SF, wish I was there too.
Well, I personally think your blog has become more interesting since you've been blossoming more and embracing the love, light, and energy around and within you!
Yes, some blogs people go to for information. For me, the ones I love the most are the ones where people are really exposing themselves on a deeper level--where we can get to know the true person, rather than the image of what they want the world to see.
I think you are getting more and more beautiful (not just externally) as you progress along this raw food path, Philip. I look forward to reading about your future life adventures!
Lots and lots of love to you,
Wendi Dee

Hi Philip,
I think your just awesome and keep up what you are doing. The pictures of Cali are so beautiful.
Hi Philip,
I've been reading your site for a few months. I say don't change it. Every raw food site is different and there is a niche for yours. I especially love the interesting YouTube clips you put up that I would never see otherwise. That painting elephant was ah-mazing!
A friend of mine once said that the only thing she ever heard that made her want to quit smoking was my story of trading cigarettes for bike riding. She said a message of hope and triumph will win more hearts than fear and diseased lung photos. Food for thought, no?
I am greatful to you, as you are my message of hope and triumph!
Smiles all the way,
Maria
I've been loving following your journey lately! Now I am living vicariously through you while you are visiting my old home and I am here at the Tree. I heard that you and Frank will be here in September- yay- looking forward to it! Lots of love to you! :) Savrah
Yay for focusing on the fun, positive aspects. I'm with ya bro.

I look forward to your little stories of a day in the life of a raw foodist. It is very enjoyable and refreashing. I find inspiration from your blog, please don't change it. I really have not thanked you for shareing though and so now I do.... Thank-you phill for shareing your raw life:)

Darling Philip, You are a light unto the world, and take it from me who does have a 'disease', focusing on it does NOT do a pinhead of good. Focusing on life, healing, love and laughter, ahhh there is the secret manna for us all.
Stay on the path you have created, it shines a way for all of us to follow, smiling and laughing all the way!
Can't wait to meet you at Mat's talk June 14th, I have some ideas for stuff to do here in lala land!
love deb
Thank you again for all the additional comments. I love to focus my attention on all the beautiful things this world has to offer, and that we can create. I want to continue to share my love and job and celebration for living, and at the same time stay with documenting things in the raw world giving tips and advice. My passion is the YouTube videos, which I will never stop. : )
your presence during this brief visit meant more than words can fully describe here. . . but I wanted to say publically- your voice is unique and peaceful and reaches exactly the people it's meant to reach. . . I wouldn't want to see you change your focus. . . unless it became a part of your inner growth and own journey- which is exactly what we're here to witness- the beautiful and sometimes messy but always perfect in the imperfections- JOURNEYS.
Rock on Philip and I'll catch you on the flip side.

Hi Philip~
I was one of those smiling people at Cafe Gratitude! I came in on Saturday and you were sitting at the bar! I was picking up a to go order after being at a convention. It was just wonderful to see you in person. I have followed your journey and I feel that when I saw you it kept me going toward being RAW! I just smiled and waved! Wanted to come and say hi but thought I would let you enjoy your time with your friends. Keep up the good work! You have inspired not only myself but my husband and nephew!!
Hi Philip,
I love your blog! It gives a boost whenever I see a new entry appearing in my NewsNetWire! I keep struggling to get on the raw bandwagon - but I know one of these days it's gonna kick in full time. Your blog and your story are so inspirational to me and really make me want to keep on trying. The second point of your three-fold reply really gets me where I need help...just to let go of the old stuff that isn't working! BTW, I second the thanks for the painting elephant link...very awe-inspiring stuff! As well, thanks for the friend request on GI2MR and for the light that shines through all your posts, pics, and videos. Much appreciated!
