5 Tips To Staying Motivated With Exercise

Today is the start of Week 3 of my P90X Fitness Program.

A lot of people are following along and doing it themselves right at home... thank you for your support.

Maybe some of the excitement and buzz around the program (or your own exercise routine) has started to wear off for you.  Careful... that is when you really need to buckle down.

Skipping a day or two can turn into a week, and then next thing you know it you'll be forgetting about it all together.  I'm here to encourage you to stick it out, stay focused, and remain in the flow.

Here are some Tips to keep you motivated.

1.  Create A Trigger

Put your P90X disks in a place you almost have to trip over them daily.  I have them on my office desk and see it every morning.  If doing another form of exercise, leave yourself a reminder card, or something that triggers you to workout.

2.  Plan Ahead

If your not doing the program in the morning, write down in your calendar or journal or iCal application the time you will be doing your workout.  Keep your own self accountable.

3.  Alert Yourself

Add reminder alerts to go off on your cell phone, computer, or through your email program for the time you picked to workout.  Remember, this is for you.  Your own personal time to take care of self.

4.  Take Pictures

Take pictures, take pictures, take pictures.  You will see changed in your body, but sometimes when they are little by little it can be difficult to always recognize them.  When taking pictures you really see the changes and that will inspire you even more to continue on.

5.  Proper Form

Finally, when working out, really DO the exercises.  I know sometimes it can be easy to cheat on your form so you can get out the max number of reps or time that you want to exercise, but never at the expense of poor form.  This doesn't serve you at all.  Better to have good form with low reps, or modify the movement, but do it right.  Correct form produces amazing results... even if the reps are low to start.  The better results you have, the more you will be motivated to continue.

I Believe In You!

Ps.  Some people have asked about the Raw Protein Powder I use after my workouts.  Vanilla is my favorite and it can be found here.
