08/31/07 - Meetup at the Farm
I went to our CT Raw Food Meetup last night at the Sticks and Stones Farm in Newtown, CT. We had a smaller group this time around, but what an enjoyable time we all had. It is such a lovely place, filled with good heartwarming people and great conversation. They have a potluck dinner there every Thursday that is open to the public, and our raw food group usually meets there the last Thursday of the month to add our raw fare to the mix. Last night we had sprouted beans, raw humus, salads, lettuce wraps, raw crackers, peach desserts, and even banana ice cream. Yum!
08/17/07 - CT Raw Food Meetup at my house
Well we had our last CT Raw Food Meetup at my house tonight and had a great time. Eight of use came and we all chatted, ate great food, then watched the movie “Big Bucks Big Pharma.” Three of the people that came were not raw foodists, and were just learning, so it was a neat experience that they got to try such yummy food.
Glen our organizer showed us pictures of the new location where he will be building his store. Can’t wait to see it, this state needs more things like that. Everyone brought such yummy food, from California figs to mock burgers and lettuce burritos with raw sour cream. And of course.. sushi!!!
08/15/07 - Natural Hygiene
My body has been changing lately, and requiring me to change accordingly. It no longer likes it when I eat raw junk food, or eat with bad food combining. I just have lost the taste for all the crackers and snacks, and even raw chocolates. Lately I feel the best when I eat fruits or simple salads.
I have started blending again as well. In the morning I mix spinach, kale, mango and a banana in the blender, with water, and make about a 50 ounce drink which will last me until 2pm. They I will usually eat a light salad, with maybe just a piece of fruit around 8pm. I have also noticed that my body is requiring more water lately, as I have been really thirsty. I think I had been eating so many fats in the past, and cutting out drinking water almost all together, that my body was getting a little thirsty. Plus, I have been exercising more as well, lifting weights at least 3 times a week and hiking 3 times a week.

PepsiCo Inc. will spell out that its Aquafina bottled water is made with tap water, a concession to the growing environmental and political opposition to the bottled water industry.
According to Corporate Accountability International, a U.S. watchdog group, the world's No. 2 beverage company will include the words "Public Water Source" on Aquafina labels.
08/02/07 - Blueberry Picking & Pie
Blueberries, blueberries, how I love blueberries.
I went blueberry picking for the first time with some friends last weekend, and had a great time. The weather was nice and sunny and the blueberries were plump and ready to be eaten. We went to Litchberry Hills Blueberry Farm in Plymouth, CT. They charge $15 for a giant bucket of blueberries. It probably would have been about 6-8 times the price if we bought it in the store.
The blueberries went quick as we made a pie, and ate the rest the next day. Some people thought the pie would have been better without the chocolate topping, but I enjoyed it.
