05/28/07 - Raw Picnic

This has been a pretty fun month. I have been hiking at least 3 times a week, anywhere from 2-4 miles per hike. Being outdoors hiking is one of my favorite things to do now. It’s challenging and relaxing at the same time. Sometimes when I am out in the middle of the woods I feel like I am in another state, or another country. All I can hear are the birds chirping, the dear running, the wind blowing, and nature just comes to life.

On May 12th I went to hear Angela Stokes from www.rawreform.com speak at The Stand in Norwalk, CT. I had followed her on her website for over a year and she is living proof that this way of eating works. She was obese and lost over 160 lbs after going raw, and dramatically improved her health and her lifestyle. She was a very interesting speaker, and I got a chance to briefly tell her thank you for her website as it has been an encouragement.

05/09/2007 - Take A Hike

I have really started to develop an interest in hiking lately. I actually bought some camping gear and will be planning a weekend camp/hike shortly. I picked up a few books about thru-hiking last week. Thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail mean you start in Georgia and walk straight to Maine, or vice versa. It usually takes about 6 months and is really a journey of a lifetime. Very cool and definitely life changing. It takes a certain type of person to be able to do that as some hikers don’t see another person for 3+ weeks sometimes. Is it for me, I don’t know, we shall see. But so far, I am excited.
