10/30/07 - Loving Yourself Healthy

So many times we tend to look at the physical reasons why we gain weight; too much food, too many calories, too much fat, and not enough exercise... but often we don't analyze why we do the things we do.  Why do we continue to eat until we can barely move?  Why do we eat foods time and time again that we known are not beneficial to our bodies?  Why do we punish ourselves and medicate ourselves with food?  In this video I uncover some of my discoveries about myself, and attempt to uncover the "Why."

10/26/07 - No Greens Allowed In This Hospital

Today was quite interesting, to say the least.  I woke up and made my usual 48 oz. green smoothie.  Today it consisted of massive amounts of kale, banana, mango, and cacao!  This is the best smoothie ever, and usually lasts me right until dinnertime.  I put it in a big glass mason jar, which is perfect for portability, without risking spills.

One of the things I wanted to do today was to visit my nephew and my sister who are both in the hospital at the moment.  The visits were great, and they are both doing well, but I had some interesting run-ins with the staff.  I went to visit my sister first, and of course I brought my breakfast (smoothie) with me.  After my visit I hopped in the elevator to go up to visit my nephew.  A nurse got in the elevator with me and the first thing she said, with disgust, was “what is in the jar.”  I explained that it was a kale smoothie, and asked if she wanted to try some.  She immediately said “no” and told me that it looked awful and that I should keep it in a brown bag if I am going to be walking through the hospital.  My smart-alecky nature kicked in and I immediately said “God forbid health in a hospital.”  She actually chuckled… I think she secretly agreed but didn’t want to admit to it.

10/17/07 - Raw Spirit Festival YouTube Video

Well they say a picture is worth a thousand words... so I hope this video clip tops that as I really do not have words to express my time at the Raw Spirit Festival in Sedona, AZ.  It was one of the most amazing life changing experiences I have ever had.  It gave me a quick glimpse of the future, a world filled with love, without wars, without commercialism, without violence... a real community or tribe of people united for one cause.  May we all strive towards this one common goal.
